Exports are one of the major drivers of economic growth and development. Historically, it has been observed that high economic growth has been preceded by import substitution with more export oriented and outward looking policies. The Export Preparedness Index (EPI) aims at examining the export performance and the export readiness of the states. The first-ever Export Preparedness Index (EPI) conceived by NITI Aayog in partnership with the Institute for Competitiveness was launched in August 2020. KSIDC is the State nodal agency in matters related to EPI.
EPI ranks all States and Union Territories based on their export readiness and performance. EPI 2020 & EPI 2021 framework is based on four pillars: Export Policy; Business Environment; Export Infrastructure; and Export Performance. The index entails four pillars, eleven sub pillars and sixty indicators across various export domains.
