The Kerala Government will permit 25 higher education institutions to establish Campus Industrial Parks (CIPs) this year, as announced by Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir Shri P. Rajeeve. Inaugurating the CIP project of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Shri Rajeeve highlighted the initiative's potential to revolutionize the academic and industrial sectors. He suggested that educational institutions could consider awarding grace marks to students involved in entrepreneurship through CIPs.

The selection of institutions for CIPs will be based on their standards, and the initiative aims to prioritize industrial production over research outputs. The state's Industrial Policy 2023 identifies 22 priority sectors, with newly finalized policies on environmental, social, and governance (ESG), hi-tech manufacturing, exports, and logistics.

Principal Secretary Shri. A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish IAS, emphasized the project's role in enhancing student startup initiatives, with the Industries and Commerce Department providing crucial support. Other dignitaries, including KSIDC Managing Director Shri. S. Harikishore IAS and Director of Collegiate Education Shri. K. Sudhir IAS, also attended the event.
