Minister P. Rajeeve Highlights AI-Driven Marketing for Retail Sector at Sectoral Meet

Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir, Shri. P. Rajeeve, underscored the need for embracing innovative technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) in the retail business, urging stakeholders to adapt instead of resisting such trends. He was inaugurating the sectoral meeting on retail, organized by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), as a precursor to the Invest Kerala Global Summit slated for February 21-22, 2024, in Kochi.
The minister highlighted the potential of AI and machine learning to transform retail, calling for an evaluation of the sector’s limitations and possibilities. "Kerala’s high purchasing power offers the largest market for consumer products, and we must leverage innovative technology to meet these demands," he said.
Principal Secretary of Industries and Commerce, Shri. A.P.M. Mohammed Haneesh, presented the New Industrial Policy, outlining schemes to boost the retail sector. KSIDC Chairman Shri. C. Balagopal, Managing Director Shri. S. Harikishore, Executive Director Shri. Hari Krishnan R., and KINFRA MD Shri. Santosh Koshy Thomas were also present.
A panel discussion on "Opportunities and Way Forward in Retail" featured industry leaders, including Shri. Deepak L. Aswani (Lachmandas Group), Shri. M. A. Mehaboob (Malabar Chamber of Commerce), Shri. Berly Cyriac (CII Kochi Zone), Shri. Naveen Philip (Popular Motors), Shri. S P Kamath (Amalgam Foods), Shri. Varun Das (Brahmins Foods), Shri. Rahul Mammen (Haeal Life), and Shri. Tom Thomas (Fruitomans). Discussions emphasized public-private partnerships, local brand accreditation, and GST disparities.
