Kerala Logistics Park Policy (Draft)

“To develop an integrated, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable logistics system that enhances competitiveness and drives the economic development of the state.”

The logistics sector is a vital component of the Indian economy, playing a key role in job creation and attracting foreign investment. Its efficiency is a critical factor that influences the nation’s economic competitiveness, with the growth of various sectors heavily reliant on a responsive, reliable, and efficient logistics network.

Kerala stands out as one of the most well-connected states in India, boasting an extensive transport infrastructure. The state has the highest road density in the country, complemented by a comprehensive rail network that runs almost parallel to the national highway, spanning the length of the state. Kerala is also home to four international airports, three of which are seamlessly connected to the main road and railway networks, two major seaports, several minor ports, and a major International Container Terminal (ICT) linked by a coastal sea line.

In the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2023 assessment, Kerala has earned a spot in the Fast Mover category, receiving high ratings across various indicators. The state’s operating and regulatory environment has been particularly praised for its effectiveness, leading to Kerala being recognized as an ‘Achiever’ in the LEADS 2023 assessment.
